DevOps interview practice with real company questions
InterviewMate helps you rehearse DevOps interviews out loud—using curated questions companies ask for your target company and role, plus sample answers we maintain by hand—then scores your responses so you know what still sounds weak under pressure. Reading a list and answering live are very different skills. Most DevOps candidates know the material; what fails in the room is structuring an answer on the spot, handling follow-ups, and explaining tradeoffs clearly. That is exactly what a live session on real company questions trains.
Start a DevOps mock interviewWhat DevOps interviews usually probe
- CI/CD pipelines, release strategies, and rollback thinking
- Cloud infrastructure, networking basics, and cost/reliability tradeoffs
- Observability: metrics, logs, traces, and alerting hygiene
- Incident response, postmortems, and on-call communication
- Containers, orchestration, and infrastructure-as-code patterns
- Security basics: secrets management, least privilege, supply-chain hygiene
Sample question themes you should be able to speak to
Interviewers rarely want textbook definitions. They want to hear how you have applied a concept and what broke when you did. Expect prompts like: walk me through your current deployment pipeline and where it is fragile; a deploy just took production down—what do you do in the first five minutes; how would you cut this team's cloud bill by 30% without hurting reliability; how do you decide what deserves an alert versus a dashboard; how would you migrate a legacy service to containers without a big-bang cutover. You practice those themes with company-specific questions from our curated library, answer out loud, and get follow-ups when an answer is thin—the same pressure as a real interviewer.
How InterviewMate prepares you
Choose the company and DevOps role you are targeting, paste the job description, optionally upload your CV, pick a duration (15 to 90 minutes) and interviewer style, then speak your answers live over voice. Sessions draw on curated company questions and sample answers we add manually for that company—so a platform-team loop gets Kubernetes and IaC depth while a release-engineering loop gets pipeline and rollout depth. When the session ends you get a transcript plus a scored report that highlights gaps, filler-heavy answers, and places where a stronger sample answer would have landed better—not just a static question dump.
How to get the most out of a session
- Use the actual job description you are interviewing for, not a generic one
- Answer out loud in full sentences; do not narrate bullet points
- Do a short 15-minute session first to calibrate, then a full-length one
- Re-run the same JD after studying your report and compare scores
